The 2019 federal election saw the Liberal government reduced to a minority. Justin Trudeau was completely shut out of Western Canada. He lost the trust of most Canadians.
We’ve now learned he is setting the stage for a made-in-Canada recession. The deficit is $7 billion higher than the Liberals promised only months ago, and there is no plan to balance the budget.
Canada’s Conservatives understand that never-ending deficits and out-of-control spending hurt Canadians. They threaten the livelihoods of future generations and weaken Canada’s ability to respond in times of economic crisis. Conservatives have and will continue to work tirelessly to hold Justin Trudeau to account and highlight our priorities of keeping Canada united and strong, helping Canadians get ahead, restoring ethics and accountability to government, and getting our forestry and energy sectors back to work.
2019 was a strong and successful year for our Conservative Caucus as the Official Opposition. In 2020, we will continue to focus on defeating a scandal-plagued, deficit running, Liberal government and replacing it with a Conservative government that puts Canadians first.
